◈ Commemoration Ceremony to Mark 60th Anniversary of Korean War ◈

Heads of 12 veterans organizations including the Korea Liberation Association and the Korea Disabled Veterans Organization visited the UN Memorial Park in Busan on March 29 and participated in the commemoration ceremony for the war dead of UN allied nations of the Korean War. This ceremony was designed to mark the 60th Anniversary of the outbreak of the Korean War.

The ceremony was held to pay respect to those who sacrificed their valuable lives to defend peace and establish democracy in Korea and to express appreciation to UN allied countries. It held a more significant meaning because the ritual took place at the only UN cemetery in the world where 2,300 war dead from 11 countries are buried.

During the Korean War, about 11,000 soldiers were buried at the UN Memorial Park in Busan which was created in January 1951 by the UN Command, but now, most of them were sent back to their home countries.
