A Ceremony to mark the MOU for Korea-Vietnam Peace Village

Vice Minister Lee Jong-jung of Patriots and Veterans Affairs visited Hanoi, Vietnam to participate in the Ceremony to mark the signing(9 May) of the MOU for Korea-Vietnam Peace Village between the Korea Disabled Veterans Organization and the Peoples Committee of Quang Nam Province.

According to the MOU, the Korea-Vietnam Peace Village will be completed by October, 2009, sponsored by the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs of the Republic of Korea. Vice Minister Lee said that this ceremony and the MOU would be a good opportunity to strengthen bilateral relationships between Korea and Vietnam and he hoped the village would be completed without difficulties.

The Peace Village is expected to be a place for rehabilitation and nursing of disabled veterans and their descendants who suffer from diseases associated with their exposure to Agent Orange and Dioxin during the Vietnam War.

On his way to return home, Vice Minster Lee visited Thailand and had a luncheon with Korean War veterans of Thailand.
