The photos are from an article featuring their visit to Korea in the Puerto Rican newspaper, EL NUEVO DÍA.
The 65th Regiment were the first infantryman who faced the challenge of meeting the enemy of the battle fields in Korea 66 years ago. More than 61,000 Puerto Ricans embarked on a month-long sea voyage in 1950. Upon arrival, they proved their courage and determination although they were surrounded by the enemy on multiple occasions, but never gave up.
The veterans have been known for bringing honor and recognition to Puerto Rico. The members have been greeted with Distinguished Service Cross, Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple Hearts, and the Congress Gold Medal.
